Custody Rights Will Be Reinstated for Murder Suspect

In Michigan, news sources report that a child custody hearing was held this week for a woman who stands accused of killing her husband.

During the first few weeks of October, a judge denied Laura Johnson custody of her two sons from her previous marriage.  Her boys are ages 8 and 10.

Instead of awarding the mother custody, the children were placed in their father’s custody after Johnson was charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter and unauthorized practice of medicine.  Her charges were filed in connection with the September 22nd death of her husband, Lloyd Johnson.

However, prosecutors dropped all charges against her a week later because of insufficient evidence.  Yet, the case remains under investigation.

While Johnson did not appear in court, a judge told her lawyer that Johnson’s custodial rights will be amended, but would not go into specifics.  A new hearing has been set for November 5th and the boys are expected to remain in the custody of their father until that time.
