Dennis Hopper’s Estate Still Up in the Air
Following the death of actor Dennis Hopper, there has been an ongoing battle regarding his estate. Hopper had a rather large home and now reports indicate that his fifth wife, Victoria Duffy, may be awarded 20% of his $6.2 million residence despite the fact that the couple had filed for divorce.
Hopper’s home and property measures in at an astounding 15,500 square feet and is where he and Duffy lived. In May, Hopper passed away from cancer but never got to divorce Duffy. Instead, the divorce proceedings were still active and left the ownership of his home of 20 years to be determined.
In January 2010, Hopper filed divorce paperwork and cited “irreconcilable differences”. However, the paperwork had not been settled before his death. The pre-nuptial agreement that the couple had stated that Duffy was to receive 25% of Hopper’s fortune and life insurance. Due to the fact that the couple was still living together, the contract remained intact at the time of Hopper’s death.
