Father of Murdered Infant Files for Divorce

In Colorado, it is reported that the father of a dead infant has decided to file for divorce.  According to news sources, 29 year old Lloyd Rochester decided to divorce his wife because she is suspected of smothering their infant son.  In court documents, it is stated that the mother of the infant, 34 year old Stephanie Rochester, believed that her son was autistic.

On June 1st, Stephanie was charged with first degree murder for the death of her 6 month old son, Ryan.  In an arrest affidavit, police say she told officers she wanted to kill the boy because she thought he was autistic and she also wanted to commit suicide.

In his divorce petition, Mr. Rochester said that his marriage is “irretrievably broken”.  He has also retained the services of a criminal defense lawyer, but police say that he is not considered “chargeable” at this time.

Mrs. Rochester was placed under arrest after she and her husband took the infant to the hospital.  While at the hospital, their son was pronounced dead.
